Our future is in danger.

I wrote recently that instead of doing more interesting and useful things, at the moment we have to deal collectively with the mess caused by certain actions of people in the past. There are many stories we hear that people become blind to the results of their actions like the cases with tobacco, certain medications, and fossil fuel. The world needs justice to not repeat wrongdoings.

The biggest mess is caused by the group of people who should be held accountable for the situation we find ourselves in with climate change. They knew that their decision would cause climate change and they chose to continue to do business as usual anyway. They chose to gamble our future. Did they have options?

We always have a choice. I understand the market needs energy to grow but at least they could have chosen to continue to use fossil fuel energy and at the same time invest heavily in research and development to find alternative energy sources so they could benefit from it. But instead they chose to spend lots of money in the campaigns and collaborations to mislead us. Humans do stupid things but in this case there are no words to describe this behaviour.

Ancient scripts are full of wisdom. There is a verse in the Bible which says “From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked.”

Our world needs fairness. When we hopefully get out of this crisis, the right lessons have to be drawn so we don’t repeat the history of human induced disasters.
