Joining tribes

As social beings, we tend to form communities or join existing ones. In prehistoric times, people needed communities to survive, but these days we choose a tribe with certain beliefs, customs, and culture in order to thrive.

Well established communities, in their turn, might gain from enthusiasm of newcomers with the same perspective, thus becoming even more vibrant and culturally richer. It is beneficial for all the members.

The Internet is ambiguous for tribal connection, for some activities it might help but not for others. After all, the internet is a completely new experience for humans. There was a study which measured the success of teams depending on the physical distance between the members, and they found negative correlation.

It is understandable when some companies organize business trips to enhance team building.
