“Eye for eye”, or “turn other cheek”

What do you do when people provoke you, or insult you, or give undeserved blows? How do you stay calm and continue to sing the “don’t worry, be happy” song? The emotional part of our brains is very strong, so, by default, your amygdala controls you and takes hostage the situation. However, there might be a better option.

We are all humans trying to be the best version of ourselves, at least in our heads. Try to understand their point. People may act this way when they interpret the situation not going according to the plan, or they don’t want to do their part of the deal, or it could be just another trick.

What life instructions say is, “Turn the other cheek”, a very important phrase for the global situation we are having right now. It is contrary to teachings of Jordan Peterson, who says “don’t be a victim, turn yourself into a monster and then control yourself”. Smaller countries can act fiercely (and they do) when they are cornered, because it is a question of survival. But I am 100% sure, the former brothers turning into enemies is the worst outcome.

So, my suggestion is don’t go into this situation. But how to save faces? Turn it to a boxing game called “turn other cheek”. I am kidding :). The tension should go to make good things, play to elevate moods in heavy tasks of daily life.

The lesson here is, don’t play games (in the negative sense) with serious issues, don’t make it worse, diffuse the tension by playing good games.

PS I am launching a game “Help the Heroes”, because frankly the world is impatiently waiting for its heroes. It is a game and at the same time a crowdfunding campaign to make a better future for all of us. To find out how to play this game, and more, please subscribe to my newsletter.
